What a wonderful start to the school year! We had a great literacy night this week. Thank you to PTO and all who came out! In order to support literacy achievement at GES we have WIN time every day.
📚 What is WIN? WIN means “What I Need.” It is a 30-minute time each day when all students get reading instruction at their level. This normally takes place in a small group setting but can also be in a classroom.
⏰ When is WIN? Every school day for 30 minutes.
👩🏫 Who teaches WIN? A classroom teacher or a small group reading teacher.
🏠 How Can Parents Support WIN? The best way to support your reader is to read together at home! Even 10 minutes a day makes a difference!
🔤 Sound It Out Together!
- Look at the word.
- Say each sound slowly.
- Blend the sounds together.
- Try the word again.
Tip: Give your child time to sound it out before telling them the word.
